The Baojun 530 is sold as the Chevrolet Captiva in Chile.

The July 2019 article has now been updated with the Top 25 models.

New car sales in Chile sink -14.6% year-on-year in August to 33.059 units for their 7th decline of the year, with the year-to-date tally now down -7.6% to 251.553. Chevrolet (-9.9%) manages to fall slower than the market to hold onto the top spot and keep its YTD volume in positive (+0.5%) but that’s not the case of Kia (-20.1%) and Nissan (-18.4%) which complete the podium. In fact only Hyundai (+0.9%) manages a year-on-year uptick in the Top 12 whereas Volkswagen (-34.2%), Renault (-33.6%), Toyota (-29.7%), Peugeot (-27.7%), Suzuki (-23.1%) and Ford (-19.9%) are in complete freefall. Further down, notice MG (+67.8%), Porsche (+47.4%), Brilliance (+37.1%), Mercedes (+29.6%), Dongfeng (+29.5%), Opel (+28.2%), the Chrysler Group (+24.8%) and Volvo (+24.7%) managing rare double-digit gains.

The Chevrolet Sail (+5.2%) takes the lead of the models ranking above the Kia Rio (-11.4%), Suzuki Baleno (+39%), Hyundai Accent (-11.7%) and Kia Morning (-20.2%). Still #1 year-to-date, the Mitsubishi L200 (-20.1%) is down to a paltry 7th place this month. The Ford Ranger (+20.4%) and Mazda3 (+13.4%) also shine just as the JAC S2 (#17), Chery Tiggo 2 (#20) and MG ZS (#21) all fit within the Top 25.
