Slovenia July 2019: VW T-Cross inside Top 5 in market down -4.6%

The VW T-Cross breaks into the Slovenian Top 5 in July.

The Slovenian new car market pays the price for artificially boosted pre-WLTP sales a year ago – almost exclusively by the VW Group – with July deliveries down -4.6% to 5.958 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -4.3% to 47.080. As mentioned above, Volkswagen (-18.8%) logically uses a lot of ground year-on-year but manages to remain in the lead with a solid 17.3% share vs. 17.1% YTD, distancing Renault (+6.1%) at 14% vs. 14.9% YTD. Skoda (+7.6%) is faithful to its traditional #3 spot ahead of Peugeot (+15.8%) and Opel (+4%). Honda (+37%), Toyota (+36.5%), Dacia (+22.6%) and Citroen (+16.4%) post the largest gains in the Top 20 but Audi (-47.4%), Kia (-39%), Mercedes (-36.9%), Ford (-26.2%), Mazda (-19.4%) and Fiat (-13.9%) and all crash and burn.

In the models ranking, the Renault Clio (+84.2%) reclaims the top spot it has held for the past 21 years off the Renault Captur (+6.9%), with the VW Golf (-39%) clawing its way back into the podium despite a disastrous year-on-year fall. The Skoda Octavia (+33.3%) follows, while the VW T-Cross is up 3 spots on June to break into the Top 5 for the first time, Slovenia being the second country in the world in which this happens alongside Denmark. The Toyota Corolla (+1081.8%) for its part is inside the Slovenian Tp 10 for the first time at #8, with the Fiat Tipo (+222.2%), Skoda Kodiaq (+107.8%), Dacia Sandero (+69.7%), Peugeot 3008 (+68.3%) and Opel Astra (+44.3%) also very strong in the Top 20.
