Romania July 2019: Renault (+115.4%), Ford (+89.1%) lift market to 8th straight double-digit gain (+52.6%)

Renault Captur sales soar +132.1% in July in Romania.

New car sales in Romania enjoy a fantastic 8th consecutive month of double-digit gains and the largest yet in July at a mammoth +52.6% year-on-year to 23.206 units, lifting the YTD volume up 26% to 94.826. Homegrown brand leader Dacia (+50.6%) flies just under the market growth and remains at stratospheric heights at 31.2% share, over 3 times the amount of #2 Renault (+115.4%) more than doubling its sales year-on-year to score the largest gain in the Top 10. Skoda (+54.2%) and Ford (+89.1%) also outpace the market just below, with BMW (+169.9%) and Nissan (+83.7%) doing the same further down while Hyundai (+52.5%) matches the overall gain, Toyota (+48.4%) and Suzuki (+43.6%) fall short and both Volkswagen (+14%) and Opel (+14.8%) clearly underperform. Below, Citroen (+185%), Seat (+150%), Mitsubishi (+94.3%) and Porsche (+82.8%) stand out.

In the models ranking, the Dacia Logan (+41.2%) celebrates 179 consecutive months in pole position above the Dacia Duster (+51.5%), Sandero (+83.3%), Renault Clio (+95.8%) and Skoda Octavia (+32.2%), replicating the YTD Top 5. The Renault Captur (+132.1%), Ford Ecosport (+114%), Renault Megane (+102.5%) and Nissan Qashqai (+97.4%) also outpace the market in the Top 10. The Ford Kuga (+172.7%), Fiesta (+155.9%), Hyundai Tucson (+147.8%), Opel Corsa (+118.5%) and Skoda Fabia (+118.1%) shine further down with the VW T-Cross (#36) topping all new launches ahead of the Skoda Scala (#66) and Audi Q8 (#91).
