Poland July 2019: Toyota Corolla 3peats at #1, VW T-Cross, Skoda Scala in Top 50

The Toyota Corolla is the best-selling vehicle in Poland for the 3rd month in a row.

In July, new light vehicle sales in Poland gain a further 5.3% year-on-year on an already boosted July 2018 to 54.707 units including light commercials, leading to a year-to-date tally up 2.9% to 367.931. Passenger cars sales are up an even more robust 6.3% to 48.076 for the month and up 2.5% to 320.235 so far in 2019. Skoda (+4.9%) reclaims the brands top spot it holds YTD for the first time since April, distancing Volkswagen (-9.9%), Toyota (+13.3%) down two spots on June to #3 despite a double-digit gain and Opel (+5.7%) up three. Sizeable gains are common in the Top 15 this month: Dacia (+49.3%) is the most dynamic carmaker ahead of Kia (+37.1%), Hyundai (+33.5%), Mercedes (+27.1%) and Citroen (+10.9%).

Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (+141%) spectacularly 3peats at #1 and advances to the #3 spot YTD. It distances the Skoda Octavia (-8%) and Fabia (+20.2%) both up one spot on June as well as the Dacia Duster (+106.3%) down two ranks on last month despite more than doubling its sales year-on-year. The Opel Astra (-16.6%), Toyota Yaris (-3.8%) and VW Golf (-3.8%) follow, all weak and replicating their YTD ranking with the Kia Sportage (+111.2%) and Opel Corsa (+103.4%) showing explosive growth at the tail end of the Top 10. The Ford Kuga shoots back up to #18 and earns a spot in the YTD Top 50 at #47. The passenger cars models ranking reveals a Polish market open to newcomers: the VW T-Roc (+80.6%) is up to a record #19, the Kia Stonic up to #33 and we have 3 nameplates breaking into the Top 50 for the first time: the Peugeot Rifter (#42), VW T-Cross (#43) and Skoda Scala (#47).

Note: Since June 2019, we also publish the Top 15 brands and Top 50 models for passenger cars excluding light commercials.

Previous month: Poland June 2019: Corolla, RAV4 lift Toyota up 31.4%, market down -2.6%
