Mexico June 2019: Renault (+49.2%) and Suzuki (+20.3%) defy market down -11.1%
The new Kwid helps Renault up 49.2% in June in Mexico.
New light vehicle sales in Mexico endure a 24th year-on-year decline in the past 25 months in June at -11.1% to 106.411 units, leading to a H1 volume down -6.2% to 638.675. As usual, brand leader Nissan (-16.9%) falls much faster than the market but easily remains in the lead at 20.4% share vs. 14.5% for Chevrolet (-24.3%) also freefalling. Volkswagen (-10%) holds somewhat at 10.6% share in third place but the real heroes of the month are below: Toyota (+9.3%) manages a sturdy gain and pushes back Kia (+4.8%), also in positive down to #5. This time it’s Renault (+49.2%) that comfortably takes the honours of the largest gain in the Top 10 and in the entire market. At #11, Suzuki (+20.3%) extends its unbelievable streak of consecutive double-digit gains to 25 months, a stunning feat in the current context. Further down, Isuzu (+46%), Lamborghini (+33.3%), Land Rover (+32.7%), BAIC (+22.4%), Mitsubishi (+20.6%), Chrysler (+16.7%), Seat (+13.7%) and Ferrari (+12.5%) also shine.
In the models ranking, the Nissan Versa (+5.8%) remains the best-seller, comfortably outselling the Chevrolet Beat (+2%) with the Nissan Pickup (-10.3%) rounding up the podium. The Kia Rio (+7.9%) and Forte (+0.7%) are the only other Top 10 nameplates in positive, with the Dodge Charger (+1204.7%), Toyota RAV4 (+112.1%), Hilux (+26.8%), Mazda CX-3 (+26.7%), VW Gol (+16.5%) and Toyota Avanza (+14.5%) in great shape further down. The Renault Kwid is up 10 spots on May to #22 to continue dominating new launches, well ahead of the Kia Sedona (#54), Suzuki Ertiga (#56), VW Teramont (#114) and Chevrolet Blazer (#123).
