Dominican Republic Full Year 2018: Toyota and Hyundai dominate

The recently relaunched Rush has helped Toyota stay on top in the Dominican Republic.

New light vehicle sales in the Dominican Republic soar 10.6% year-on-year in the Dominican Republic to 20.422 units. The market remains very concentrated on a handful of Asian brands: Toyota easily leads the way with 20.6% share ahead of Hyundai at 14%, Nissan at 10.3% and Kia at 10.1%, meaning the Top 4 brands hold a mammoth 52.6% of Dominican Republic sales. Chevrolet (#5) and Mercedes (#9) are the only non-Asian brands in the Top 10, with Volvo (#11), Peugeot (#13), Renault (#14) and Jeep (#15) in tow. Unlike most other markets in Central and South America, the Dominican Republic hint been invaded by Chinese carmakers just yet, with JAC (#18) the only one in the Top 20.
