Denmark July 2019: VW T-Cross secures first Top 5 in the world

New car sales in Denmark edge up 1.6% year-on-year in July to 16.713 registrations, keeping the YTD tally in positive at +1.3% to 138.954 and now just 17 units below the all-time high mark of 2017. Volkswagen (-13.9%) easily retains the #1 brand spot with 14.2% share despite posting the only double-digit loss in the Top 6. All remaining Top 6 brands outpace the market, with Audi (+55.1%), Skoda (+18.5%), Citroen (+9.4%) and Peugeot (+9.3%) particularly strong. In the tail end of the Top 10, BMW (+29.3%) and Mercedes (+17.9%) impress.

Model-wise, despite a steep fall the Nissan Qashqai (-17.3%) reclaims the pole position it holds YTD but it was tight: only 3 sales separate it from the #2, the Citroen C3 (+23.3%) in great shape and distancing two other falling nameplates: the VW Polo (-17.5%) and Peugeot 208 (-13.6%). The VW T-Cross advances two spots on June to break into the Danish Top 5 for the first time. For its part the new Toyota Corolla breaks into the Top 10. The Peugeot 108 (+862.1%), Audi A6 (+283.1%), Opel Corsa (+111.8%), Astra (+99.2%), BMW 3 Series (+42.7%), Audi A3 (+41.5%) and Toyota RAV4 (+29.8%) are among the most dynamic in the Top 30.
