Greece June 2019: Fiat and Panda snap lead, YTD market at highest since 2010

The Fiat Panda is the darling of Greek rental car companies.

The Greek new car market is up 4.5% year-on-year in June to 13.133 registrations, resulting in a YTD volume up 1% to 65.557 units, the highest First Half volume in Greece since 2010 (98.531). Fiat (+62.8%) is the hero of the month, edging past Toyota (-14.7%) to snap the brands top spot ahead of Peugeot (+18.1%). Renault (+87.1%), Citroen (+41%) and Opel (+39.5%) also shine in the Top 10, with Lexus (+150%), Porsche (+120%), Mitsubishi (+86.4%), Audi (+30.4%), Skoda (+27.7%), Seat (+22.4%) and Land Rover (+21.4%) standing out further down.

The Fiat Panda (+92.2%) takes the lead of the models ranking for the second time this year after March, followed by the Renault Clio (+115.8%) and Opel Corsa (+54.6%) meaning the podium is shooting towards the stars indeed with spectacular gains for all nameplates. Below, the Toyota Yaris (-16.8%) easily keeps the YTD pole position, the VW Polo (-15.8%) struggles, and the Citroen C3 (+50.3%), Nissan Micra (-13.9%) and Peugeot 208 (+51.6%) mean the entire Top 8 is composed of small cars. The larger Nissan Qashqai (+45.2%) and Fiat Tipo (+125%) round out the Top 10 in very positive fashion. The VW T-Cross (#55) leads new launches ahead of the Skoda Scala (#72), new for the month, Citroen C5 Aircross (#76) and DS 7 Crossback (#81).
