Slovenia May 2019: Dacia (+63.2%), Skoda (+10.7%) defy market down -1.5%

Dacia Sandero sales soar 121.5% year-on-year in May.

The Slovenian new car market drops once again in May at -1.5% year-on-year to 7.447 registrations, leading the year-to-date tally down -2.8% to 34.155 units (2018 figures have been updated). Volkswagen (-3.7%) easily retains the brands pole position at 17.5% share above Renault (-3.5%) at 13.8% and Skoda (+10.7%) at 10.8%. The best performance in the Top 10 is delivered by Dacia (+63.2%) up 8 spots on April to #4 and fending off Opel (-14.6%) and Peugeot (+6.4%) to step up to #5 YTD. Below, Jeep (+487.5%), Land Rover (+212.5%), Mini (+171.4%), Toyota (+45.6%), Volvo (+28.6%), Seat (+28.4%) and BMW (+27.4%) also impress. Model-wise, the Renault Clio (+78.9%), Skoda Octavia (+54.7%), Dacia Sandero (+121.5%) and Fiat 500 (+40%) all shoot up on top, with the VW Passat (+60.4%) and Tiguan (+8.2%) the only other Top 10 nameplates in positive just as the Renault Captur (-46.7%), VW Golf (-38.3%) and Polo (-35%) all implode.
