The Toyota Hilux tightens its grip on the Argentinean market.
The Argentinean new vehicle market falls deeper into oblivion in May at -55.7% year-on-year to just 36.610 units, marking a full year of double-digit falls and tilting the year-to-date tally to less than half of its level a year ago at -50.8% 212.401. It doesn’t look it, but Toyota (-46.1%) manages the smallest decline in the Top 10 and gets rewarded with the brand pole position at 14.3% share, a meagre 6 units above the leader of the past 3 months Renault (-54.8%). Volkswagen (-59%), Chevrolet (-59.9%) and Ford (-64.6%) round up the Top 5 and fall even faster than the market. Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (-34.3%) posts the smallest decline in the Top 12 and cements its domination with 6% share vs. 4.1% for the Chevrolet Onix (-45%) at #2. The Toyota Etios (-70.1%), VW Gol (-58.2%) and Ford Ka (-67.9%) round up the Top 5 while the Toyota Yaris (+1126.8%) now just over 1 year old and Citroen C4 Cactus (+24.7%) are the only two gainers in the Top 50.
