Turkey April 2019: Fiat Egea (+26.4%) keeps swimming upstream in market down -56.5%

The Fiat Egea is the only nameplate in positive in the Top 35.

If March results (-35.5%) seemed to indicate a possible respite in the nightmare Turkish new light vehicle sales are going through right now, April sales down -56.5% to just 30.971 swiftly kill that hope, leading to a year-to-date volume down -48% to 119.440. Market leader Fiat (-34.3%) fittingly posts the best hold in the entire Top 12 resulting in a dominant 16.4% share, well above Renault (-69.1%) at 11.1% and Ford (-56%) at 10.4%. Inside the Top 10, only Peugeot (-39.3%), Toyota (-39.7%) and Honda (-39.9%) manage to lose less ground than the market whereas Dacia (-69.2%) and Opel (-66.4%) get blasted off. Further down, Ssangyong (+69.2%), DS (+35%) and Jaguar (+11.1%) post the only gains in market.

Over in the models ranking, the Fiat Egea (+26.4%) continues to majestically swim upstream, scoring the only year-on-year gain in the Top 35 and staying at a stratospheric 12.4% market share. It distances the Toyota Corolla (-21.8%), Renault Clio (-63.5%), Honda Civic (-29.6%) and Renault Megane (-65.1%). The Peugeot 3008 (-14.2%) and VW Polo (-49.8%) both break into the Top 10, with the Toyota C-HR (-9.6%), VW Tiguan (-17.1%), Skoda Octavia (-22.5%), Citroen Berlingo (-25.1%) and Hyundai Tucson (-27.4%) resisting best in the remainder of the Top 30. The Volvo V40 (+80.2%), Hyundai Kona (+22.7%) and BMW 1 Series (+16.2%) are the only other gainers in the Top 50 and the Peugeot Rifter (#44) tops recent launches above the Opel Combo (#56) and VW T-Roc (#83).
