Norway April 2019: Tesla Model 3 falls back to #2, Audi e-Tron, Jaguar i-Pace in Top 6 in market down -19.9%

The Jaguar i-Pace ranks 6th overall in Norway in April.

Now that last month’s Tesla Model 3-related freak event is over, Norway new car sales return to their dismal form at a ghastly -19.9% to just 11.255 units, meaning the year-to-date tally is now up just +3.9% to 49.740. Volkswagen (-2.2%) resists the best among the Top 4 brands to reach a fantastic 17.1% share vs. 13.4% so far this year, distancing Toyota (-30.1%), Volvo (-28.3%) and BMW (-19.5%) all in great difficulty. Tesla (+13.3%) remains in frank positive year-on-year but is down 86.1% on last month, and as a result falls 4 spots to #5, while Jaguar (+1182.8%) and Hyundai (+103.7%) do much better in the remainder of the Top 10.

Model-wise, the VW Golf (+11.3%) hasn’t lost time reclaiming the top spot off the Tesla Model 3, the spectacular winner of last month as years-old orders were finally delivered. But the Model 3 has fallen back to earth more abruptly than expected in April at “just” 720 sales and already imploding -86.4% on March, however keeping the YTD by far at 6.843 units vs. 3.659 for the Golf. The BMW i3 (-10.9%) climbs onto the podium, distancing last year’s winner the Nissan Leaf (-61.3%) in dire straits. The Audi e-Tron brilliantly confirms the 5th spot it snapped last month, while the Jaguar i-Pace is up one rank on March to #6 ahead of the Hyundai Kona (+3737.5%) and Ioniq (+23.6%) both posting fantastic gains.
