Alaska (USA) Full Year 2018: Ford F-150 leads, Chevy Silverado 1500 & Subaru Forester strong

The Subaru Forester scores its only podium finish in the U.S. here in Alaska.

Thanks to our partnership with JATO Dynamics, after exploring Full Year 2018 State by State sales in the U.S., we zoom in on the most significant States. Its size, isolation from the “lower 49” and peculiar transport network – it’s impossible to drive from one end of the State to the other – really make Alaska “the Last Frontier” and a perfect candidate for a Special Report of its own. I have documented this State with extensive Photo Reports made during my trip there in 2015, going from Barrow at the extreme northwest to Ketchikan in the southeast.

Even though it is by far the largest State in America at 663.268 sq miles
(1.717.856 km2), Alaska is the second smallest new vehicle market with its Top 5 accounting for just 3.802 sales, above only the District of Columbia at 2.344. The Ford F-150 (+8.2%) cements its position as the most popular nameplate in the State, while the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (+17.5%) replaces the Ram 1500 (-8.3%) in 2nd place. The Subaru Forester (+10.1%) is also very strong and shoots up 3 spots on 2017 to climb on the third step of the podium, scoring its only 2018 State podium finish here and one of only 2 Top 5 finishes alongside Connecticut (#4).
