Polish new light vehicle sales edge down -1.4% year-on-year in March to 56.489 units including light commercials, yet a solid start of the year enables the YTD tally to remain in positive at +1% to 156.737. 6 of the Top 7 best-selling brands are in decline with Renault (-11.2%), Opel (-9.9%), Skoda (-8.6%), Volkswagen (-7.2%), Ford (-6%) and Toyota (-4.4%) all falling much faster than the market. The odd one out is Dacia surging +31.1% year-on-year and 3 spots on February to land in 4th place overall, to BSCB knowledge the brand’s very first incursion inside the monthly Polish Top 5. Further down, Fiat (+18.1%), Mercedes (+10.7%), Hyundai (+6.8%) and Kia (+1.2%) also manage a year-on-year uptick in the remainder of the Top 15.

We have a very rare event in the Polish models ranking this month: a new best-seller. Just one month after breaking its ranking record to #4 in February, the Dacia Duster (+55.5%) not only climbs on the podium for the first time in history, it also stunningly snaps the overall pole position, edging past the Skoda Fabia (-4.8%) for 23 sales and the Skoda Octavia (-11.3%) for 46. The Toyota Yaris (-9.2%) is also knocked down one spot to #4, distancing the VW Golf (-13.9%) and Opel Astra (-27%), while the Toyota Corolla (+73.5%) is boosted by the new hatch variant replacing the Auris. The Hyundai i30 (+52.3%), Ford Fiesta (+43.9%), Renault Megane (+41.7%), Fiat Tipo (+39.6%), Dacia Dokker (+25.5%), Citroen C3 (+24.2%), Skoda Karoq (+23.3%), VW Tiguan (+22.8%), Toyota C-HR (+14.7%) and Volvo XC60 (+10.2%) are among the best performers in the Top 50.
