French Guiana Full Year 2018: Hyundai (+37.3%) cracks Top 5 in market up 9.5%

Hyundai breaks into the Top 5 brands in French Guiana.

For only the second time on BSCB, we can share with you official sales data for French Guiana (simply Guyane in French), a French overseas territory located on the Atlantic Ocean coast in South America, west of Brazil (see map below) and home to 283,000 inhabitants. New car sales in French Guiana shoot up a splendid 9.5% in 2018 to 5.837 registrations.

Peugeot is the most popular carmaker in the territory at 18.3% share, a mere 21 units above Renault at 18%, both brands gaining 7.9% year-on-year. Below, Citroen (+10.1%), Dacia (+27.5%) and Hyundai (+37.3%) all outpace the market to round up the Top 5. Suzuki (+43.8%) posts the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10, up 3 spots on last year to #8 overall, while Seat (+111.5%) is the best performer in the Top 20, up 4 to #13. Ssangyong makes its reappearance in French Guiana directly at #20.
