Lebanon Full Year 2018: Nissan Patrol (+87.2%) spectacularly topples Toyota Prado (-74%)

2017 (-2.6%) was the calm before the storm: 2018 Lebanese sales crumble down 21.7% to just 39.800 units. Brand leader Toyota (-45.9%) is hit particularly hard, falling more than twice as fast as the market to see its share dwindle down ten percentage points from 33% to 22.8%. In complete contrast, Nissan surges 34.3% to go from 10.4% to 17.8% share in 2nd place, overtaking Kia (-18.8%) improving slightly to 14.3% while Hyundai (-24.7%) and Renault (-10.8%) round out the Top 5 like last year. Honda (+81.8%) posts the most spectacular improvement in the Top 10, up 5 spots to #9 with Chevrolet (+9.2%) and Suzuki (+1%) also in positive. Below, Jeep (+74.5%), Citroen (+42.2%), Land Rover (+37.6%), Jaguar (+34%), Cadillac (+33.8%), Volvo (+19.4%), Lexus (+11.1%), Geely (+8.1%) and Maserati (+5.8%) impress with year-on-year upticks.
In the models ranking, the 2018 order is completely reshuffled vs. 2017, with last year’s winner the Toyota Prado (-74%) completely imploding to fall to #6 whereas the Nissan Patrol soars 87.2% to step up 6 spots on last year and authoritatively get hold of the annual pole position with 7.4% share. The Kia Picanto (-23.9%) follows the market to overtake the Toyota Land Cruiser (-65%) and earn the 2nd place overall. The Hyundai i10 (+10.5%) and Toyota Yaris (-2.1%), Kia Rio (-24.8%) and Nissan Micra (+193%) up spectacularly make it 5 small cars in the Top 8. Notice also excellent performances by the Hyundai i20 (+124.5%), Chevrolet Spark (+79.9%), Honda Civic (+78%), Nissan X-Trail (+41.3%) and Kicks (+32.2%). The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (#41) is the most popular 2018 launch.
