Thailand November 2018: Toyota (+42%), MG (+122%) lift market up 26.3%

The Camry is up 170% year-on-year, helping Toyota up 42%.

Nothing can stop euphoric new vehicle sales in Thailand, celebrating 15 straight months of double-digit gains in November at +26.3% to 94.643 registrations, leading to a year-to-date volume now up a stellar 21% to 928.158 units. Toyota (+42%) is the main architect of this growth, being one of only two Top 10 carmakers to outpaces the market growth, reaching almost 1 in 3 Thai sales this month at 32.5% share vs. 30.5% so far this year. The other over-performer is Chinese MG (+122%) at #10. Meanwhile Isuzu (+18%), Honda (+7%), Mitsubishi (+15%) and Nissan (+22%) all lose share year-on-year in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, Hyundai (+80%), Kia (+64%) and Porsche (+13%) also beat the market. Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (+73%) continues on a streak of 7 consecutive monthly wins and 9 consecutive double-digit gains, posting its largest monthly volume in 5 1/2 years (since May 2013) and cementing its newfound YTD leadership with a 3.000 unit-advantage over the Isuzu D-Max (+21%). The Ford Ranger (+8%) underperforms but remains in third place, making the Thai podium 100% pickup trucks as is the tradition. The Mazda2 (+27%) remains the most popular passenger car above the Toyota Yaris (+46%) and Honda City (+10%), while the Chevrolet Trailblazer (+291%), Nissan Teana (+263%), Toyota Camry (+170%), Suzuki Swift (+91%), Honda HR-V (+43%) and Nissan Navara (+38%) post some of the largest year-on-year gains in market and the MG ZS celebrates one year of sales at #24.
