Thanks to our partnership with SEMO Cyprus and INNOSOFT, we can share with you today annual sales data for Cyprus, a market down 1.1% year-on-year to 12.870 registrations. Toyota edges up 0.4% to remain in the brand lead with 13% share, with Kia (+20.9%) soaring to 2nd place overall ahead of Nissan (-5%), Volkswagen (-3.3%) and Ford (-34%). Excellent performance of Land Rover (+31.3%) breaking into the Top 10 at #10. Model-wise, the Toyota Yaris (+9.5%) snaps its first win since we started following Cyprus in 2005, with the Nissan Qashqai (+2.5%) in tow and the Toyota C-HR (+14.2%) up to a world-best third place, helped by its first monthly win in December. The Hyundai Tucson (-30.1%) is knocked down two spots to #4 while last year’s leader the Ford Focus (-50%) implodes to #8. The Ford Kuga (+77.9%) and Kia Picanto (+92.5%) also post fantastic results to break into the annual Top 10 at #6 and #9 respectively. Outside the Top 10, the Jeep Renegade (+362.1%) and Mini Countryman (+371.4%) are new forces to be reckoned with, most probably helped by hefty orders by rental car companies, while more “natural” progressions are heralded by the Peugeot 3008 (+266%), Skoda Fabia (+163.5%), Nissan Micra (+89.3%), Citroen C3 (+43.2%) and Range Rover Evoque (+20.1%). A handful of new launches make their way into this year’s Top 30: the Kia Stonic (launched in late 2017) lifts up to 15th place, the VW T-Roc lands at #17 and the Volvo XC40 at #30.
