Croatia Full Year 2018: Skoda Octavia and Renault Clio hold onto Top 2 in market surging 18.3%

New car sales in Croatia surge 18.3% year-on-year in 2018 to 60.041 units, making it one of the most dynamic in Europe. This stunning result marks a 5th consecutive year of growth and third double-digit gain in a row, getting closer to the all-time record of 88,265 units clocked in in 2008. Volkswagen (+25.5%) remains by far the most popular carmaker in the country with 14.9% share, almost one percentage point above its 2017 level, with Renault (+26.5%) leaping up two spots on 2017 to #2 and 9.7%. Skoda (+12.1%) and Opel (+12%) both drop one spot to #3 and #4 respectively, Suzuki (+21.3%), Peugeot (+61.5%) and Citroen (+31.4%) all improve their ranking in the Top 10. Ford (-34%) and Audi (-0.8%) are the only Top 15 carmakers not posting a double-digit gain, Fiat (+48.2%), Hyundai (+25.9%) and Dacia (+24.4%) also outpacing the market while further down Mitsubishi (+267.5%), Lexus (+171.4%), Subaru (+169.6%), Jeep (+97.4%), Mini (+81%), Infiniti (+75.9%), Smart (+75.7%), Honda (+54.6%) and Porsche (+49.1%) all post spectacular gains. 

Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+21%) beats the market and repeats at #1, marking its 4th overall annual win in Croatia after 20112014 and 2017. The Renault Clio (+13.4%) holds onto its 2nd spot, the VW Golf (+5.7%), winner in 20132015 and 2016, is back on the podium, dislodging the Ford Focus (-55.9%), freefalling down to #14. The VW Polo (+70.4%) up to #4, Renault Captur (+120.9%) up to #7, Fiat 500 (+268.6%) up to #10 and Citroen C3 (+76.6%) up to #11 post the largest gains in the Top 20. The VW Tiguan (+33.6%) breaks into the Top 10 , with the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross (+35.4%), Dacia Sandero (+24.6%) and Toyota Yaris (+22.3%) also lodging solid upticks. The VW T-Roc (#16) is the only 2018 launch to manage to land directly inside the Croatian Top 20.
