The Belorussian new car market shoots up 52.7% year-on-year in 2010 to 52.835 units, making this market one of the most dynamic in the world. Renault (+8.2%) remains the most popular carmaker in the country but sees its share tumble down almost 10 percentage points from 30.2% in 2017 to 21.4% this year. In contrast, Lada (+198.7%) triples its sales year-on-year and doubles its market share from 10.1% to 19.8%, taking a commanding lead in Q4 at 21.5% vs. just 15.6% for Renault. It will be extremely difficult for the French carmaker to keep its crown in 2019. Volkswagen (+24%) retrogrades to #3 at 13.1% vs. 16.2% but the real hero of the Top 10 is Chinese carmaker Geely (+588.3%), taking full advantage of the very successful Atlas crossover to improve all through the year: 2% share in Q1, 4.4% in Q2, 6.4% in Q3 and 10.3% in Q4 earns it a 4th place overall this year vs. #12 in 2017. All remaining Top 10 carmakers bar GAZ (+32.4%) outpace the market: Skoda (+66.1%), Ford (+63.2%), Nissan (+56.8%), Hyundai (+54.4%) and Kia (+54%) all improve their shares vs. 2017. Further down, Haval (+376%), Changan (+350%), Mini (+163.6%), Mitsubishi (+91.5%) and Porsche (+81%) shine.

The Geely Atlas soars to #6 overall in Belarus, it even ranked #4 over H2.

Over in the models ranking, the Lada Vesta (+776.7%) reaches a round 10% share and ends 5 consecutive years of domination by the VW Polo (+25%), snapping its 2nd annual crown alongside Russia. The Vesta peaked at 12% share in Q4 and is the first Lada to top the annual models ranking in Belarus since the Lada Priora in 2012.  Renault fills all remaining spots in the Top 5 with the Logan (+41.4%), Sandero Stepway (+1.2%) and Duster (+4.7%) even though they all lose share. The Geely Atlas (+1158.2%) stuns with a 6th spot, ranking 4th over H2 and responsible for the brand’s outstanding performance this year. The Lada XRAY (+259.9%) and Granta (+117.4%) end the year just outside the Top 10 while the Kia Rio X-Line is the most popular 2018 launch at #13, with the Skoda Kodiaq (#25) and Geely Emgrand X7 (#26) also newcomers in the Top 30.
