Netherlands November 2018: Nissan Leaf, Jaguar i-Pace soar in market down 7.7%

The Jaguar i-Pace breaks into the Dutch Top 15.

The Dutch new car market drops for the third consecutive month at -7.7% in November to 34.785 registrations, yet the year-to-date volume remains comfortably positive at +6.7% and 423.938 units. Brand leader Volkswagen switches abruptly from -27% in October to a fantastic +29% this month to 14.7% share vs. 11.6% so far this year, distancing Opel (-18%) and Peugeot (-11%) still very much struggling. In fact only Mercedes (+29%) and Skoda (+4%) post a gain in the remainder of the Top 10, with Renault (-64%), Toyota (-22%) and Ford (-18%) in dire straits, Kia (-8%) matching the market at BMW (-1%) resisting well. Further down, Jaguar (+548%), Tesla (+113%), Nissan (+70%), Lexus (+49%), Jeep (+26%) and Seat (+20%) all stun with spectacular gains. Model-wise, the VW Polo (+192%) and Golf (+14%) top the charts ahead of the Kia Picanto (+37%), VW Up (-18%) and Peugeot 108 (+34%) but the heroes of the month are electric: the Nissan Leaf leaps 2166% year-on-year and 15 spots on last month to #10 and the Jaguar i-Pace soars 39 ranks on October to break into the Top 15 at #14, making the Netherlands the second country in the world where it has achieved this feat after Norway.
