Denmark November 2018: Mercedes C-Class surprise leader in stabilised market

The Mercedes C-Class is the best-selling nameplate in Denmark in November.

New car sales in Denmark have now recovered, with both November (-0.6%) and year-to-date (-0.3%) data extremely stable at 17.931 and 204.650 units respectively. Volkswagen (+14%) is more dominant than ever at 16.2% share, Mercedes (-3%) leaps up seven spots on October to land in 2nd place with 8.9% share vs. 5.1% so far this year, eclipsing Peugeot (-24%), Toyota (+37%) and Skoda (+5%). Opel (+10%) and Citroen (+8%) shine in the remainder of the Top 10, while further down Jeep (+220%), Hyundai (+123%), Volvo (+87%), Fiat (+66%), Mini (+50%) and Mazda (+12%) make themselves noticed.

Model-wise, we have a surprise in pole position: potentially boosted by one-off fleet deliveries of the facelifted model, the Mercedes C-Class leaps up 59% to #1 with 3.5% share vs. #16 and 1.6% YTD. The VW Polo (+115%) is up six spots on last month to #2, both nameplates outselling the top two best-sellers of the year so far (in the wrong order): the Peugeot 208 (-38%) and VW Golf (-22%) both in great difficulty. The Toyota Aygo (+134%) and VW Touran (+46%) also shine inside the Top 10, while the Opel Crossland X (+1332%), Fiat 500 (+254%), Toyota C-HR (+254%), Hyundai i10 (+203%), Citroen C1 (+149%), Opel Astra (+83%), VW Tiguan (+73%), Ford Focus (+41%) and Citroen C3 (+26%) are strong further down. The Hyundai Kona and Volvo XC40 are equal most popular recent launches (<12 months).
