Belgium November 2018: Volkswagen back to #1, Skoda shines in market down 14.7%

Skoda (+12%) is the only carmaker in the Top 25 to post a double-digit gain.

Now updated with Top 10 models

After falling 33.6% in September and 15.2% in October, new car sales in Belgium lose another harsh 14.7% in November to 33.819 units, still impacted by post-WLTP gloom. The year-to-date volume however manages to remain in positive at +1.5% to 526.435. After being outsold by BMW for the top spot both in September and October, Volkswagen (-13%) regains the #1 brands title this month despite still dropping by the double-digits. BMW (-3%) resists at #2 with 8.5% share vs. 7.3% so far the year, distancing Renault (-34%), Opel (-8%) and Peugeot (-17%). Skoda (+12%), Toyota (+7%), Mercedes (+3%) and Seat (+1%) are the only Top 20 carmakers to post a year-on-year gain this month, with Audi (-50%) in dire straits again. Bentley (+183%), Mitsubishi (+29%) and Jeep (+7%) are among the rare gainers in the remainder of the ranking while Alpine is up 8 spots on last month to #36. The VW Golf (-30%) tops the models ranking despite a ghastly drop, distancing the Hyundai Tucson (-13%), BMW X1 (-1%), VW Polo (-10%) and Renault Clio (-20%).

Note the October 2018 post has now been updated with the Top 10 models.
