Poland October 2018: Mercedes (+59%), BMW (+37%) help market up 1.5%

The Mercedes GLC Coupe scores its first Top 50 finish in Poland this month.

After two months impacted by the new WLTP testing standards ( +58% in August and -22.3% in September), new car sales in Poland stabilise in October at +1.5% to 46.532 units including light commercials, bringing the year-to-date total up 11.9% to a record 498.553. Brand leader Skoda (-0.4%) posts a strong share at 12.7% vs. 11.6% year-to-date, while Volkswagen (+10%) is back into the 2nd spot int holds YTD ahead of Toyota (-4%) particularly weak at 7.8% share vs. 9.7% so far this year. Mercedes (+59%) and BMW (+37%) post the largest gains in the Top 15, followed by Dacia (+20%), Kia (+19%) and Ford (+11%) now #4 YTD above Opel. Nissan (-35%), Renault (-23%) and Fiat (-20%) struggle. In the models ranking, the Skoda Fabia (+8%) posts a 2nd consecutive month at #1 thanks to its facelift, whereas the Skoda Octavia (-11%) is in difficulty but remains #1 YTD for now. The VW Golf (+34%) is back up 15 spots on last month to #3, distancing the Opel Astra (-21%), Toyota Yaris (+14%) and Dacia Duster (+17%). The Ford Fiesta (+96%), Dacia Sandero (+68%), Volvo XC60 (+65%), Mercedes Sprinter (+55%), Kia Cee’d (+42%) and VW Polo (+41%) post the largest gains further down while the Peugeot 3008 (#42) and Mercedes GLC Coupe (#45) score their first Polish Top 50 finish.
