UK nations August 2018: Suzuki Swift shines, Toyota C-HR scores first Top 10
The Toyota C-HR breaks into the Northern Irish Top 10 in August.

Thanks to our partnership with SMMT we can share with you the Top 10 best-sellers for all UK nations in August. Keep in mind this is a zoom in by nation, all sales figures are already included in the August 2018 UK update. Wales frankly outpace the already galloping overall market at +42.4% to 3.193 registrations with England slightly above at +23.8% to 79.712 and Scotland slightly below at +21.7% but Northern Ireland clearly underperforming at +1.5% to 3.701. Year-to-date, all UK nations remain in negative (in a UK market down 4.1%) with Wales once again performing best at -1.2% to 52.211 sales, Northern Ireland at -3% to 38.407, England at -4% to 1.356.729 and Scotland underperforming at -6.9% to 120.609.
The Ford Fiesta tops 3 out of 4 nations: England, Scotland and Wales and ranks #2 in Northern Ireland were the VW Polo is the best-seller, also ranking #2 in Scotland and Wales and #3 in England. The VW Golf ranks #2 in England and #3 in Scotland and the Ford Kuga ranks #3 in Northern Ireland and in Wales, no other nameplate reached the podium this month. The Seat Leon, Honda Jazz and Suzuki Swift all break their UK ranking records this month but for once their performance doesn’t have everything to do with English fleet sales: the Honda Jazz ranks #5 in Scotland and the Suzuki Swift is #8 in Scotland and #5 in Wales where Suzuki is the most impressive, placing the Celerio at #4 and the Vitara at #6. The Toyota C-HR posts its very first Top 10 finish in any UK nation at #8 in Northern Ireland, as for the Peugeot 3008 up to #10 in Northern Ireland it is the second time it appears in a UK nation Top 10 after ranking #9 in Wales last April.
