New Caledonia (France) August 2018: Ford Ranger holds onto top spot

The Ford Ranger is the best-selling vehicle in New Caledonia both in August and YTD.

New light vehicle sales in New Caledonia, a French Overseas archipelago located north-east of Australia, edge down 0.4% year-on-year in August to 770 registrations bringing the year-to-date tally down 3% to 5.641 units. Keep in mind New Caledonian sales aren’t included in our monthly French updates that only represents Metropolitan France. Peugeot is the standout winner in the brands ranking this month with sales up 25% to 12.3% share, distancing Toyota (-2%), Ford (-7%) and Dacia (-14%) whereas Suzuki (+74%), Renault (+27%) and Citroen (+24%) all post spectacular gains in the remainder of the Top 10 but Nissan (-47%) and Subaru (-24%) implode. Model-wise, the Ford Ranger (+42%) reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date ahead of the Dacia Duster (-11%) and Toyota Hilux (-36%) with the Peugeot Partner (+175%), Toyota Yaris (+160%) and Citroen C3 (+80%) posting the largest gains in the Top 10. The Ram 1500 – not officially sold in Metropolitan France – is up 157% to #11.
