New car sales in Slovenia gain 17.6% year-on-year in July to 6.246 units, meaning the year-to-date tally is now up 8.1% to 47.923 registrations. Slovenia is yet another country to be heavily impacted by Volkswagen’s stock-clearing program ahead of the WLTP standards change: the German carmaker is up 59% to hit 20.4% share vs. 17.2% year-to-date, distancing Renault (+21%), Skoda (+6%) and Opel (-10%). Fiat (+138%), Seat (+42%) and Peugeot (+26%) also impress in the Top 10 whereas Dacia (-43%) and Ford (-39%) sink. Further down, notice Jeep (+750%), Land Rover (+250%), Mitsubishi (+160%), Volvo (+150%), Nissan (+93%, also benefitting from a Europe-wide stock-clearing program) and Seat (+42%) all posting spectacular gains. Logically based on the brand’s July performance, the VW Golf (+23%) and Polo (+34%) top the models ranking ahead of the YTD leader the Renault Clio (-11%). The Nissan Qashqai (+623%), Fiat 500 (+540%), Fiat Panda (+256%), Renault Kadjar (+240%), VW Tiguan (+140%), Renault Captur (+139%) and Hyundai Tucson (+122%) are the most impressive gainers in the remainder of the Top 20 while the VW T-Roc leaps up 4 spots on June to return into the Slovenian Top 10 for the third time in the past four months at a record #7.
