Poland June 2018: Volkswagen, Kia, Dacia strong in market up 10.8%

The Dacia Duster is now the best-selling SUV in Poland in 2018.

New car sales in Poland soar 10.8% year-on-year to 52.415 registrations, a new record for the month leading to a YTD volume up 10.4% to 305.532 units including LCVs, also a new record. Brand leader Skoda (+11%) follows the market to 12.4% while Volkswagen surges 44% to 10.5% yet this is in line with its YTD share of 10.2%. Toyota (+10%) trails the market slightly but operates two percentage points below its YTD level at 7.9% vs. 9.9%, opposite to Renault (+8%) one point above at 7.2% vs. 6.2%. Kia (+27%), Dacia (+17%), Mercedes (+16%) and Opel (+13%) also beat the market in the Top 10 whereas Fiat (-16%) plunges. Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (-5%), Fabia (+14%) and Opel Astra (+6%) hold onto their YTD positions on the podium, followed this time by the VW Golf (+8%) and Dacia Duster (+13%) which overtakes the Nissan Qashqai (-25%) to become the best-selling SUV in the country so far in 2018 at #9. Note Dacia also places the Sandero (#20), Dokker (#33) and Lodgy (#48) in the Top 50. The VW Polo (+104%), VW Tiguan (+76%), Renault Megane (+68%), Toyota Corolla (+67%), Renault Master (+55%), Skoda Citigo (+51%), Toyota C-HR (+42%), Suzuki Vitara (+33%) and Toyota Auris (+27%) also impress. The Skoda Karoq (#24) leads recent launches ahead of the VW T-Roc (#26) and Kia Stonic (#36) breaking into the Top 50 for the first time.
