Hungary June 2018: Suzuki, Skoda, Renault pull market up 30.6%

New car sales in Hungary score a 30.6% year-on-year uplift in June to 14.192 units, meaning the YTD tally is now up 29% to 70.736. Local producer Suzuki continues to hold a tight grip on the Hungarian sales charts, more than doubling the market growth this month at a stunning +71% to 16.1% share, in line with the +69% and 16.3% it sports YTD. Skoda (+51%) also vastly outpace the market, overtaking Ford (+13%) to snap the 2nd place overall. Opel and Dacia (+20%) underperform, but Renault (+50%), Volkswagen (+47%) and Kia (+40%) shine, Mercedes breaks into the Top 10 and Toyota (+32%) matches the market.

Model-wise, the Suzuki Vitara lurches up 133% to 10.9% share, cementing its status of best-seller in Hungary and selling more than double any other nameplate in the country. The Skoda Octavia (+36%) reclaims the #2 spot it holds YTD after two months held by the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross (+36%). The Dacia Duster edges up 8% but gains two spots on May to #4 vs. #7 YTD, the Ford Kuga (+47%) is back up 6 ranks on last month to #7 while Renault places the Clio (#8) and Captur (#10) inside the Top 10. The Toyota C-HR is up to #12 YTD whereas it only ranked #26 in FY2017. Detailed H1 2018 data is now available, showing the Dacia Sandero at #14, the Dacia Dokker Van at #20, Ford Ranger at #23 and Toyota Hilux at #37. The Suzuki Vitara, SX4 S-Cross and Dacia Duster are the favourites of Hungarian private buyers while Skoda dominates the company sales charts with the Octavia.
