After preliminary figures we published last week, final sales data for Europe 27 countries is now available thanks to our partnership with JATO Dynamics. The market edges up 0.4% to 1.426.676 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 2.1% or almost 150.000 deliveries to 7.017.762. Group-wise, the Volkswagen Group is the best performer in the Top 5 with a 4.1% uplift leading to a 6.4% jump YTD whereas Renault-Nissan (+0.1%), FCA (-0.2%), Ford Motor (-0.9%) and the PSA Group (-1.5%) all underperform. Below, Hyundai-Kia (+4.7%) shines and Toyota Motor (+1.4%) is solid but Daimler (-7%), the BMW Group (-5.6%) and the Geely Group (-1.6%) tumble down.

Over in the brands ranking, the entire Top 25 displayed in our preliminary figures published last week is confirmed. Further down, DR Motor (+287.1%), Mahindra (+123.3%), MG (+105.3%), Rolls-Royce (+50%), Lamborghini (+39%) and Ferrari (+38.8%) are among the best performers while DS (+17.7%), Subaru (+16.7%), Lexus (+16.1%), Jaguar (+15.6%), Tesla (+11%) and Alfa Romeo (+10.8%) all post double-digit gains.

Model-wise, below a podium unchanged on preliminary figures (Golf/Clio/Polo), the VW Tiguan (+18.6%) does even better than expected as it seems final figures now include the 7-seat variant, propelling the nameplate above 25.000 sales for the month at #4, equalling its record ranking also hit in April 2017, August 2017 and January 2018. This means there are three VWs in the European Top 4 this month. The Nissan Qashqai (-8.1%) is now above the Peugeot 208 (-8.3%) at #9 and the Opel Corsa (-11.1%) now ahead of the Skoda Octavia (-8%) at #11. The Fiat Panda (-2.9%) now ranks 15th above the Citroen C3 (-12.6%), the Dacia Duster (+36.6%) is now above the Toyota Yaris (-3.1%) at #17, the Audi A3 (-2.6%) ahead of the Seat Leon (+11.1%) at #22 and the Renault Megane (-10.8%) now distances its archenemy the Peugeot 308 (-5.6%) at #24.

Further down, strong performers include the Ford Ecosport (+74.1%), Opel Insignia (+73.4%), BMW X3 (+55.9%), Suzuki Swift (+53.1%), VW Transporter (+51%) still catching up on halted sales early in the year, Audi Q5 (+46.6%), Dacia Logan (+35.5%), Toyota Aygo (+26.1%), Toyota C-HR (+23.8%), Skoda Kodiaq (+23.2%) and Mercedes GLC (+15.7%). The VW T-Roc (#26) tops all recent launches above the Citroen C3 Aircross at #43 (+3), Seat Arona at #52 (+2), Skoda Karoq at #64 (-4), Kia Stonic at #90 (+6) and Hyundai Kona at #98 (+2). The BMW X2 is up 16 spots on April to #132 and the DS 7 Crossback up 11 to #169 while we welcome four new arrivals in the charts: the Citroen C5 Aircross at #290, the Peugeot Rifter at #294, the DR Motor DR4 at #297 and the Lamborghini Urus at #355.
