Greece April 2018: VW Polo takes the lead in market up 24.2%

The VW Polo is the best-selling vehicle in Greece in April.

New car sales in Greece shoot up 24.2% year-on-year in April to 10.498 registrations, pushing the YTD volume up 26.1% to 37.274. Toyota (+35%) beats the market but only manage to salvage its brands pole position by just 4 units ahead of Peugeot (+13%) while Volkswagen also advances slightly faster than the market at +27% to 10% share vs. 8.3% YTD. Inside the Top 10, Nissan (+55%), Hyundai (+37%) and Citroen (+30%) shine whereas Mercedes (-8%), Opel (+12%), Fiat (+14%) and Suzuki (+15%) underperform. Among smaller brands, notice Dacia (+456%), Jaguar (+400%), Seat (+209%), Kia (+100%), BMW (+51%), Alfa Romeo (+46%) and Mini (+38%).

Over in the models ranking, the VW Polo more than doubles its sales year-on-year (+122%) to snap the lead for the first time in a year (since May 2017) thanks to the new generation, with the Peugeot 208 (+51%) up to #2, knocking the Toyota Yaris (+33%) and Fiat Panda (+34%) down to #3 and #4 respectively. The Nissan Micra surges 111% to #5, wth the Toyota Aygo (+64%), Mercedes A-Class (+70%), Suzuki Swift (+148%), Ford Fiesta (+204%) and BMW X1 (+150%) also posting spectacular gains and the VW T-Roc (#24) topping recent launches above the Skoda Karoq (#39), Kia Stonic (#46) and Seat Arona (#49).
