Brunei Full Year 2017: Toyota Wigo tops market down 11.9%

After a one-year hiatus, Brunei is back on BSCB. The market has continued to sink at -11.6% and 12.730 registrations in 2016 and a further 11.9% to 11.212 in 2017. This follows a high of 18.642 units in 2013, a figure 66% higher than last year’s. This data from the Brunei Automobile Traders Association. According to Frankie Ho, Managing Director of Grand Motors Sdn Bhd in a recent interview with energy.gov.bn, the decline is due to the increased difficulty to secure car financing with local banks. Toyota remains the most popular brand in the country, with the Toyota Wigo snapping the top spot off the long-term leader, the Vios, in both 2016 and 2017.
