New Caledonia (France) January 2018: Ford Ranger snaps lead in market down 18%

New Caledonia is a French overseas archipelago located north-east of Australia. The new car market is down a harsh 17.9% year-on-year in January to 664 units. Missing out on the annual pole position for just 13 sales in 2017, low-cost manufacturer Dacia easily takes the lead in January in spite of sales down 17% to 13.7% share. It is followed by Ford (-32%) and Citroen (-13%) while Toyota doubles its volume year-on-year to a round 10% share. Subaru (+79%), Volkswagen (+64%) and Kia (+20%) shine in the Top 10 whereas Renault (-32%), Hyundai (-40%) and Peugeot (-44%) plunge. Model-wise, the Ford Ranger takes the lead thanks to deliveries up 11% on January 2017, overtaking the leader of the past two years, the Dacia Duster down 23% and awaiting the new generation. The Sandero (+43%) makes it two Dacias on the podium while the Hyundai Creta is up to a fantastic 4th place despite sales down 5%. The Toyota Yaris (+233%), Subaru XV (+171%) and VW Golf (+157%) also post spectacular gains inside the Top 10.
