Tunisia Full Year 2017: Isuzu, Citroen, Renault top market up 5.1%
The Isuzu D-Max should remain the best-selling vehicle in Tunisia in 2017.

The Tunisian new car market is up 5.1% year-on-year in 2017 to 63.685 registrations, pulled by strong passenger car sales up 10% to 45.888 while light commercials drop 5.9% to 17.797. Parallel market sales are down 13.7% to 20.385 units. Isuzu remains the most popular carmaker on the Tunisian market, improving by 16.8% to hit 11.1% share vs. 10% in 2016. Citroen edges up 0.2% to 8.8%, enough to overtake Volkswagen (-22%) to land in 2nd place overall, followed by Renault up 16.7% and three spots to #3. Kia (-19%) rounds up the Top 5 with 6.9% share. In the Passenger Car brands ranking, Renault (+17%) passes Kia (-20%) and Volkswagen (-23%) to snap the top spot, Hyundai (-1%) remains 4th and Citroen is up 34% and three ranks to #5. Isuzu (+17%) dominates the LCV market head and shoulders with just under 40% share, followed by Citroen (-27%), Fiat (+15%), Peugeot (-23%) and Dacia (-5%). Volkswagen is tops of parallel sales but drops 17% ahead of Peugeot (-22%), Citroen (-31%), Mercedes (-2%) and Renault (-26%).
The Hyundai Grand i10 is a strong seller in Tunisia.
Official models data for Tunisia is available for the first time since 2014, even though it is only for the January-August period. The Renault Clio is the best-seller by far, ahead of the Renault Symbol and Hyundai Grand i10. The Kia Rio Sedan and Ford Fiesta round up the Top 5 with the Citroen C3 and Fiat Punto also inside the Top 10. The Peugeot 301 (#12), Dacia Logan MCV (#15), Seat Ibiza (#16), Citroen C-Elysée (#17) and Dacia Sandero (#19) are also strong sellers over the period. Note that adding up hatch and sedan variants, the Kia Rio would rank #2 overall, the Hyundai Grand i10 #3 and the VW Polo #4.
