The Saudi new car market continues to struggle this year with November sales down another 20.5% year-on-year to 45.898 registrations, leading to a year-to-date volume down 23.8% to 481.822. Toyota is ultra dominant once again, selling exactly one in every three new cars in the country in November (33.2% share) despite following the market at -21% on November 2016. Its next three followers all endure much steeper falls: Hyundai is down 32% but posts a strong 21.2% share (20.4% YTD), Kia is down 33% to 6.4% and Nissan down 39% to 5.5% vs. 6.8% so far this year. Reversely, Ford (+12%), Mazda (+13%), Isuzu (+17%) and most impressively Honda (+119%) all gain ground inside the Top 10. Below, notice MG (+35%), Lexus (+37%), Land Rover (+50%), Peugeot (+65%), Jaguar (+111%), Cadillac and Mitsubishi (both at +164%) all posting spectacular gains.

Model-wise, it’s a surprise on top with the Toyota Yaris taking the lead thanks to deliveries up 52% to 9% share vs. 4.1% and #7 year-to-date. It is followed this month by the Hyundai Sonata (-12%) and Toyota Hilux (-50%), ahead of the Toyota Corolla (-39%), Hyundai Accent (-61%) and Hyundai Elantra (-42%), all falling faster than the market. Leader year-to-date, the Toyota Camry tumbles down 56% to #9. The Mazda6 (+14%) and Honda Accord (+145%) are the only two other nameplates gaining ground in the Top 10. Other great performers this month include the Renault Koleos (#14), Nissan Navara (#20), Ford Figo (#24) and Mitsubishi Lancer EX (#31).
