The Iraqi new car market is in full recovery mode: it soars 27.2% year-on-year in November to 3.050 registrations, lifting the year-to-date volume up 16.2% to 30.122 units with one month remaining in the year. Kia keeps its stranglehold on the brands ranking with just under 50% share thanks to deliveries up 23%. Toyota also gains 23% to hit 20.7% share vs. 17.8% so far this year. Hyundai doubles its sales to reach 13.1%, distancing Chevrolet up 5-fold to 10.6% and Suzuki up 7-fold to 3.2%. The Top 5 manufacturers hold 97.4% of the Iraqi market in November as Nissan has a month off. In the models ranking, the Kia Frontier is sovereign like in neighbouring Jordan, even doubling its sales year-on-year to hit 33.2% share. The surprise is in 2nd place: the Chevrolet Cobalt is up 17-fold to 10.6% share – but it’s the previous generation of the nameplate (2011-2015) that is sold here, meaning it is imported from Uzbekistan where it is assembled as the Ravon R4. The Cobalt distances the Toyota Hilux (+94%) and Land Cruiser Pickup (+74%), while the Hyundai Tucson (+516%) rounds up the Top 5 above the Hyundai Elantra (+233%). The Suzuki Swift DZire sedan slips into the November Top 10.
