Fiji is a South Pacific archipelago composed of 332 islands and more than 500 islets located about 2.000 km (1.300 mi) north of New Zealand. Almost 90% of the 900.000 inhabitants live in the two major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Fiji has one of the most developed economies in the Pacific due to an abundance of forest, mineral, and fish resources, and this translates into a more diverse new car market with 18 manufacturers sharing official sales figures.

It’s also a very dynamic market with sales up 11.7% year-on-year in 2017 to 3.830 units. Toyota remains the favourite carmaker in the country but sees its share thaw drastically from 33.4% in 2016 to 25.4% now due to deliveries down 15%. In contrast, the four next best-sellers frankly outpace the market: Hyundai surges 51% to 18.7% share, Isuzu is up 32% to 15.7%, Kia up 60% to 11.9% and Nissan up 29% to 5.9%. The Toyota Hiace is however still estimated to be the best-selling vehicle in Fiji for 2017.
