Turkey July 2017: Fiat Egea and Renault Mégane most popular
The Fiat Egea remains the most popular vehicle in Turkey.

As one year ago, political trouble had sunk the Turkish new car market down 30%, it logically rebounds back this month, up 41% to 82.297 registrations, yet the year-to-date tally remains in negative territory at 483.455 units, down 3% on the same period a year ago. These figures include light commercials. Market leader Renault surges 86% to 14.1% share and Fiat is up 81% to 13.1%, distancing Ford up 53% to 11.8%. In contrast, Volkswagen only manages a meagre 3% improvement to 11.4% share. Toyota (+52%), Dacia (+53%), Mercedes (+64%) and Nissan (+101%) all frankly beat the market among the 11 best-selling brands. Further down, Honda (+82%), Suzuki (+91%), Volvo (+112%) and Jeep (+100%) are all either doubling or close to doubling their sales year-on-year.
The Renault Megane returns to #2 overall thanks to the sedan variant.
Model-wise, the two best-selling nameplates YTD reclaim their position this month: the Fiat Egea remains the most popular vehicle in the country, even improving by 108% year-on-year to 5.6% share, while the Renault Megane continues to be boosted (7-fold!) by the new sedan version to 5% market share. The Ford Courier (+50%), Toyota Corolla (+41%) and Opel Astra (+28%) round up the Top 5. Stunning 189% improvement for the Renault Clio, with the Fiat Fiorino (+90%), Dacia Sandero (+98%), Nissan Qashqai (+117%) and Honda Civic (+239%) also sporting extravagant gains. The Toyota C-HR (#35) is once again and by far the most popular newcomer, followed by the Skoda Kodiaq (#78), Seat Ateca (#90), Opel Crossland X (#95) and Audi Q2 (#100).
