Czech Republic July 2017: Toyota and Dacia shine, market up just 5%
Toyota sales are up 77% year-on-year in July in the Czech Republic.

At 19.649 sales in July, the Czech new car market is up a timid 5% year-on-year. A rare fact nowadays: this is not the largest volume for the month, which was reached in 2015 (21.415). The year-to-date total however, up 8.3% to 164.100 units, is a record after seven months. Both market leaders Skoda (-1%) and Volkswagen (-16%) retreat this month, resulting in market shares much lower than YTD: 27.3% vs. 30.8% for Skoda and 9% vs. 10.4% for Volkswagen. Hyundai follows the market at +6% while Dacia impresses once again with deliveries up a whopping 46% year-on-year. Inside the Top 10, Seat (+23%), Peugeot (+25%), Kia (+26%) and Toyota (+77%) all post spectacular gains whereas Renault (-20%) is in difficulty. Further down, Citroen (+22%), BMW (+24%), Subaru (+29%), Mazda (+46%), Nissan (+47%), Porsche (+185%) and Lada (enjoying a revival at +367%) make themselves noticed.
The Duster (+67%) helps Dacia up 46% in July.
Model-wise, the Top 6 best-sellers are unchanged on June with the Skoda Octavia (+5%) comfortably in the lead with 9.4% share, the Fabia down 13% to #2, the Rapid down 2% to #3 and the Superb down 7% to #4. The Hyundai i30 (-16%) is catching up on the VW Golf (-8%) for the title of best-selling foreigner in 2017. In 7th place, the Dacia Duster jumps 67% year-on-year and 5 spots on June while the Dacia Sandero is up 30% and one rank to #8. The Skoda Kodiaq is back inside the Czech Top 10 at #9 and the Kia Cee’d leaps 21% year-on-tea and 7 spots on last month to break into the Top 10 at #10. The Ford B-Max (+388%), Dacia Logan (+103%) and BMW 5 Series (+213%) also shine.
