Pakistan May 2017: Honda BR-V latest addition to local production

The Honda BR-V is now also produced in Pakistan.

Thanks to PAMA we can share with you May sales of locally-produced light vehicles in Pakistan. The market is up a splendid 22% year-on-year to 20.720 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally up 20% to 100.124 units. Leader Suzuki manages to outpace the market with a 24% gain to 53.7% share vs. 52.1% so far in 2017, Toyota drops 11% to 23.8% and is now being teased by Honda surging 86% to 22.5%. Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla remains in the lead but posts a harsh 19% decline with the Suzuki Mehran catching up in 2nd place at +8%. The new generation Honda Civic is estimated to see a 177% improvement on the previous model in May 2016 ahead of the Suzuki Cultus up 28% and the WagonR up a mammoth 172%. Unreported last month (sales have been updated on the April article), the Honda BR-V kick-started Pakistani production in April an is up 66% this month to 9th place overall.
