New car sales in Kuwait slow down their fall in 2017 at -8% over the first four months of the year to 35.089 units. Market leader Toyota underperforms at -22% to fall to a still ultra-dominant 26.4% share, with Nissan also falling heavily at -19% but lodging a 11.9% share, over two percentage points higher than its FY2016 level of 9.8%. Inside the Top 6, Mitsubishi (+2%), Kia (+2%) and Hyundai (+1%) manage to post small increases and improve their market share, but the most impressive in the Top 10 are Honda (+37%) and Ford (+45%) improving drastically. Further down, notice Dodge up 3-fold to #14, Volkswagen up 78% to #18, Peugeot up 41%, Isuzu up 43% and Jaguar up 65%.

#1 for the past 6 years, the Toyota Prado continues to dominate the Kuwaiti sales ranking with over 10% of the market so far this year, but it’s the only stable nameplate in the Top 10. The Mitsubishi Pajero is up two spots on its FY16 ranking to land at an excellent 2nd place with 4% share, the Nissan Patrol moves the same way to #3 and the Toyota Land Cruiser is up 3 to #4#4, making the Top 4 solely composed of largest SUVs. The Toyota Camry falls to #5 but is now teased for the title of #1 passenger car in Kuwait by the Nissan Altima up from #24 in FY16 directly to #6. The Nissan X-Trail also improve dramatically from #16 to #8, with the Nissan Sunny (#44 to #15), Ford Taurus (#90 to #28) and Mitsubishi Montero Sport (#128 to #32) very dynamic.
