Finland May 2017: Volvo up 49% in market up 4.8%

The V90 helps Volvo surge 49% year-on-year in Finland in May.

The Finnish new car market is up 4.8% year-on-year in May to 10.841 registrations, yet the year-to-date tally remains in negative at -2.2% to 52.940 units. Brand leaders Toyota (+21%) and Volkswagen (+19%) both frankly outpace the market, while Skoda drops 1% but is back on the podium. Volvo (+49%), BMW (+50%) and Mercedes (+33%) deliver the largest year-on-year gains inside the Top 10, with Renault (+15%) and Hyundai (+21%) also dynamic just below. The Skoda Octavia remains the most popular nameplate in the country despite dropping 10% year-on-year this month. The VW Golf (+5%) is up two spots on April to #2, ahead of the Nissan Qashqai (+17%) and Toyota Auris (+35%). The VW Passat (+5 spots on last month to #6), Polo (+5 to #7), Renault Clio (#9) and BMW 5 Series (#13) also make themselves noticed while the Volvo V90 (#8) and Toyota C-HR (#14) recede somewhat.
