Uruguay April 2017: Fiat leads market up 16%

Fiat is the best-selling carmaker in Uruguay for the second month running.

The Uruguayan market is definitely on the mend with April sales up another 16% to 3.887 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 23% to 16.484 deliveries. Fiat continues to catch up on lost time earlier in the year with a second consecutive pole position thanks to sales up 39% to 634. The Italian manufacturer now ranks third year-to-date at 11.3% share. It distances this month Volkswagen (+48%) and Chevrolet (+159%) both posting spectacular gains, as do Nissan (+72%), Hyundai (+81%) and Citroen (+76%) inside the Top 10. Reversely Renault (-4%), Peugeot (-23%) and Suzuki (-31%) fall into negative territory in April. FAW (+89%) leads Chinese carmakers ahead of Lifan (-67%), Great Wall Motors (+12%), Chery (+7%), BYD (+90%) and Geely (-68%). All-in-all, Chinese carmakers are down 24% to 9.4% share this month.
