As per the BSCB tradition, after preliminary figures for the Top 10 brands and Top 20 models, we now detail full brands and models data for April. Final figures bring one change in the Top 10 brands: Fiat overtakes BMW to rank 8th overall in April with 67.846 sales (+15%) vs. 67.538 for BMW (+11%). Toyota (+13%), Suzuki (+13%), Hyundai (+14%), Kia (+17%), Land Rover (+20%) and Mazda (+28%) thanks to the CX-3 (#102) are the other manufacturers posting double-digit gains inside the Top 20 while beyond, Jeep (+24%) still benefits from the Renegade effect (+48%), Honda (+60%) takes full advantage of the success of the HR-V (#114), Ssangyong (+72%) is lifted by the Tivoli, Jaguar is now counting on both the XE (1.751 sales) and F-Pace (1.235) to take off by 145% and Infiniti owes its 152% year-on-year increase solely to the Q30 which breaks into the European Top 200 for the first time this month (#183 with 1.145 sales). Finally Bentley can thank the Bentayga (94 sales) for its 83% surge: the all-new SUV is already the brand’s second best-seller across the continent below the Continental.

Looking at the models ranking in more detail, we find that final figures have slightly altered the preliminary Top 20 we published a couple of weeks ago: the Peugeot 2008 (15.849) is now above the Toyota Yaris (15.817) and the Audi A4 (15.643) now distances the Skoda Fabia (15.549). SUVs are once again the starts of the European market: less than 12 months after its launch, the new Hyundai Tucson equals its best ranking at #23 (also hit last January), up 15 ranks on March, the Dacia Duster is up 10 spots to #27 and the BMW X1 up 130% to #53 thanks to the new model yet the Renault Kadjar is down 6 ranks on last month to #35. The VW Touran is back up 11 spots to #38 and the Renault Scénic, in runout mode before the arrival of the new generation, is up 22 to #50.

Peugeot Traveller Europe April 2016Peugeot Traveller

Among recent launches, below the Tucson and Kadjar – the only new nameplates in the Top 80 – the Mercedes GLC maintains itself above the brand’s smaller crossover, the GLA, at #84 vs. #87, the Fiat Tipo breaks into the European Top 100 for the first time at #93, the Renault Talisman is locked outside the Top 150 (for now?) and the Mercedes GLE Coupe is catching up on its direct competitor the BMW X6 at #194 vs. #189 this month. We welcome three new nameplates in the sales charts in April: the Suzuki Baleno at #209, the Citroen E-Mehari at #266 and the Peugeot Traveller at #278.
