Argentina March 2016: Chevrolet Classic gets second life at #1

Would the Argentinean new car market now be out of the woods? It is up 16% year-on-year to 55.814 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total into positive at +3% to 159.987 units. Volkswagen holds onto the pole position despite growing slower than the market at +10% to 10.050 sales and 18% share, but Chevrolet (+58%) is catching up at 9.020 units and 16.2%. VW also leads year-to-date at 26.796 (-8%) vs. 25.762 (+26%) for Chevy. Fiat is back up 3 spots to #3 and 12% share, Ford is down 11% at #4, threatened by Renault (+27%) and Toyota (+23%). Honda (+95%), Nissan (+40%), Agrale (+78%) and BMW (+196%) all post spectacular gains. In the models ranking, the Chevrolet Classic, #1 in Argentina from 2010 to 2013 and unchanged in the past 6 years, is having the time of its life with sales up 95% year-on-year to 3.092 units, consolidating its year-to-date leadership at 7.930 sales (+53%) vs. 7.318 (+28%) for the Fiat Palio in 2nd place. The VW Gol Trend is up 83% to #2, the Toyoa Etios up 44% to #5, Chevrolet Onix up 202% to #7 and Chevrolet Prisma up 160% to #15.
