Slovakia Full Year 2015: Skoda Fabia reclaims title off Octavia
The Skoda Fabia signs its first win in Slovakia since 2012.

New car sales in Slovakia are up 9% year-on-year to 85.386 registrations, and we have a new market leader in the models ranking. Thanks to the new generation boosting sales up 34%, the Skoda Fabia reclaims the title of best-selling car in Slovakia it last held in 2012 off the Octavia (+9%), leader in 2013 and 2014. It is the 12th time in the past 16 years that the Fabia is #1 in Slovakia. The Skoda Rapid rounds up the podium for the third consecutive year but gains only 1%, resulting in a smaller share at 4.6%. Despite sales down 4%, the Kia Cee’d reclaims its foreigner crown off the VW Golf (-12%) with the Hyundai i30 (+7%) in tow.
The Suzuki Vitara lands directly in 7th place in Slovakia.
Exceptional welcome for the Suzuki Vitara, landing directly in 7th place with 1.475 sales and 1.7% share, by far the most popular new entrant of 2015 ahead of the Hyundai Tucson (#41) and Mercedes GLE (#105) and, most impressively, already the #1 SUV in the country above the Kia Sportage (#11) and Skoda Yeti (#12). The Hyundai i20 (+42%) and Fiat Ducato (+21%) also shine in the Top 10, while outside let’s single out the VW Passat, up 39% to #13.
Over in the brands ranking, Skoda stays sovereign at 19.5% share, even outpacing the market with sales up 10%, above Volkswagen (+3%) while Hyundai (+18%) overtakes sister brand Kia (-3%) to take the third place. Peugeot (+9%) and Opel (+20%) post dynamic gains while outside the Top 10 Fiat (+25%), Mitsubishi (+38%), Nissan (+47%), Jeep (+54%) and Volvo (+60%) shine.
