New car sales in the UK have not seen a year-on-year decline in 42 months (since February 2012) with July registrations up another 3% to 178.420 units, lifting the year-to-date total to a record 1.555.309 deliveries in seven months, up 6.5% on 2014. More muted gains are expected for the second half of 2015 by SMMT, but given all forecast for the UK market in the past 3 years have been properly blown out of the water, another surge to ensure an all-time high sales figure for the year is not out of the question. Brand-wise, Ford (+2%) and Vauxhall (-10%) with Audi (+8%) just 1.4 percentage point below Volkswagen (+11%) at 7.3% vs. 8.7%. Mercedes gains a whopping 21% to storm into the Top 5 for only the 2nd time in at least 3 years along with Feb ’14 with 10.127 deliveries and 5.7%, overtaking Nissan (-5%) and BMW (-6%). Below, Hyundai (+16%), Honda (+17%), Mazda (+24%), Renault (+35%), Jaguar (+77%), Porsche (+78%) and Jeep (+149%) enjoy a great UK summer.

Ford Focus UK July 2015The Ford Focus is up 17% to #2 this month.

In the models ranking, despite sales down 4% year-on-year to 8.504 the Ford Fiesta is the best-selling car in the country for the 28th time in the past 29 months (only loss was to the Vauxhall Corsa last December), followed this time by the Ford Focus up a very dynamic 17% to 7.044 but remaining #3 year-to-date below the Corsa, down 11% this month. The Audi A3 is back inside the Top 10 to a splendid 6th position thanks to sales up 6% to 3.731, the VW Polo surges 65% to #7 and 3.620 and the Fiat 500 is up 6% to #8 and 3.191, earning back its spot in the YTD Top 10. The Mercedes C-Class holds its place in the Top 10 thanks to 2.868 sales this month.
