The Austrian new car market is up a very dynamic 9% year-on-year in July to 26.917 registrations, bringing the year-to-date tally to 188.550 units, now down just 1.5% on 2014. Volkswagen manages to outpace the market at +10% to 4.388 sales and 16.3% while Opel is up a fantastic 22% in 2nd place at 2.191 units and 8.1%, distancing Skoda (-8%) and Audi (+5%) both at 6.2% of the market. Below and by order of sales, Seat (+20%), Mercedes (+36%), Fiat (+65%), Mazda (+57%), Volvo (+45%), Jeep (up 3-fold) and Porsche (+61%) all shine. Model-wise, the Volkswagen Group confirms it has an even tighter hold in Austria than at home in Germany, placing no less than 7 models inside the July Top 8. The VW Golf dominates as usual above the Polo, the Seat Ibiza compensating a weak June result (outside the Top 30) by a third position in July, Skoda Octavia, VW Tiguan, with the Skoda Fabia at #7 (-5) and the VW Bus at #8 (+5). The Fiat 500 family (#6), Hyundai ix35 (#9) and Ford Focus (#10) are the only non-VAG nameplates in the Austrian Top 10 this month. Finally, notice the Audi Q3 up to #16 and the Mazda3 leaping up to #19.
