Turkey June 2015: Toyota Corolla leaps up to pole position

The Toyota Corolla is the best-selling model in Turkey this month

The Turkish new car market continues its galloping ride in 2015: up another impressive 43% year-on-year in June to 86.158 registrations including commercials, lifting the half-year 2015 total to 432.550 units, up 51% on 2014. Renault has a fantastic month, leaping up from #4 in May to #1 brand in Turkey in June with 11.087 sales and 12.9% share (+51%), edging past Volkswagen at 12.8% (+37%) with Ford at 11.2% (+31%) and Fiat at 10.4% (+34%) also knocked down one spot. Toyota shoots up 89% to #5, Dacia is up 64%, Citroen up 95%, Nissan up 130%, Skoda up 74%, Seat up 84% and Jeep up 416%.

The Mercedes C-Class is among the 20 most popular nameplates in Turkey in June.

Now that the May strikes are over, the Toyota Corolla is catching up on lost time: back up 7 spots on last month to land in pole position thanks to 4.010 sales and 4.7%. As a result, Corolla sales have more than doubled year-on-year so far in 2015 (+116%). The Fiat Linea is kicked out to #2 for June but remains in the lead year-to-date with 18.600 sales vs. 16.651 for the Corolla at #2. The Renault Fluence, now back to undisrupted production, is back up 12 spots to #3 and 3.262 deliveries but still lags in 6th place year-to-date, while the Renault Symbol is down one rank to #4 but #10 so far in 2015. Notice also the Opel Astra solid at #9, the Renault Clio back up 17 ranks to #11, the Hyundai Accent up to #16, Dacia Sandero up to #17 and the Mercedes C-Class up to a splendid 20th place.
