The German new car market is up a solid 5% year-on-year halfway through 2015 to 1.618.949 units. Demonstrating a further segmentation of Europe’s largest new car market, only 3 manufacturers in the Top 20 outpace the market enough to improve their market share year-on-year: Volkswagen up 9% to further cement its domination at 21.7% of the market, Nissan up 10% to #12, Mini up 27% to #19 and Smart up 57% to #20 thanks to the return of the Forfour. The entire Top 10 brands are unchanged on H1 2014 with Mercedes (+4%), Audi (+6%), BMW (+3%), Opel (+1%) and Ford (+2%) following VW, Skoda (+4%), Renault (-1%), Hyundai (+4%) and Seat (+5%) rounding up the Top 10. Other great performers over the period include Suzuki, Porsche (+21%), Lexus (+40%), Jeep (+74%), Mitsubishi (+81%) and Ssangyong (+132%).
